State Seeks To File Copy Of Caution Interview

In the case of Alivereti Lesukiyasawa, who allegedly murdered Joseph Johnson, the state is seeking time to file a copy of the caution interview.
The alleged murder took place on February 19.
The deceased’s body was discovered at Evan Street, Lautoka.
The case at the High Court in Lautoka was presided by Justice Sunil Sharma.
Legal Aid Commission lawyer, Shaheen Ali, represented Lesukiyasawa in court.
The state lawyer, Taitusa Tuenuku, had filed additional disclosures in court, including the deceased’s post-mortem examination report.
He sought 14 days to file a copy of the caution interview. Ms Ali told the court that Lesukiyasawa’s bail sureties’ affidavits were pending and that the counsel in carriage of the matter sought seven days to file the same.
Mr Tuenuku told the court that the state was also requesting Lesukiyasawa’s affidavit as he was charged with a serious offence.
Justice Sharma adjourned the matter to August 2 for the substantive and bail matter.
