Stop ‘Ridiculous Claims’, NFP’s Nabou Says To Unity Fiji Party Leader, Narube

National Federation Party general secretary Seni Nabou has called on the Unity Fiji Party leader Savenaca Narube to check his facts before making ridiculous claims against the party.
Ms Nabou’s call comes after Mr Narube claimed that some political parties have copied their name and motto as they registered people first as their by-line or motto.
He said he has wondered why, suddenly there was a clamour for the word unity when from 2013 to 2018 no one seemed interested in the word.
“After the 2018 Elections, some political parties have virtually copied our name and motto. A political party chose Uniting Fiji as its mottos,” he said.
“Our symbol shows 14 people holding hands in unity. It represents the 14 provinces across Fiji. The outer blue circle represents the ocean that surrounds Fiji.”

Unity Fiji Party leader Savenaca Narube.
“The inner green circle represents the motherland and the middle aqua circle represents the interaction of the people with the ocean and the motherland.”
He said they would now ask for some protection in their name and motto. In response, Ms Nabou said Unity Fiji doesn’t have ownership of the word unity or uniting.
“Unity Fiji Party is horribly wrong in claiming that we have copied their name and motto. We started uniting Fiji 14 years ago from August 2008,” she said.
“It was the title of National Federation Party’s historical publication, marking 45 years of the Party’s existence as Fiji’s oldest political party since 1963,” she said.
She said the theme then started appearing on the mast of their official letterhead, temporarily replaced by the election themes for 2014 and 2018.
