Swimmers Target Semifinal Spots

Team Fiji Swimming has set a plan hoping their athletes reach the semi-finals.
Swimmers Temafa Yalimaiwai, Rosemarie Rova, Kelera Mudunasoko, Hansel McCaig with head coach Rosemary Rova left for Birmingham yesterday.
The team will join swimmers Epeli Rabua, Taichi Vakasama, David Young and Cheyenne Rova who had left for United Kingdom early.
Rova and Vakasama have been training in the UK following their participation at the World meet in Budapest, Hungary.
Head coach Rosemary Rova said preparations have been going well.
“I’m looking at getting into the second round, sort of into the semifinals for some of the swimmers. Competition is always tough,” Rova said.
“I think training has been going really well.
“But the only thing I worry about is travelling and with only five days to go before we will be competing.
“For the four that have been in the UK for a while, their preparations have been really good.
“The two boys have just finished their exams at university; things have been a challenge for them.”
Team Fiji general manager Ajay Ballu said: “The logistics aspect of Team Fiji has been great. It has been good actually; Fiji Airways has helped us a lot with our luggage and excess luggage.
“We thank Government for assisting us get to the Games, families and friends who have helped in any way,” he said.
The team travelled to Sydney, then to Dubai on the way to Birmingham.
