Development Plans Lead Businesses Forward: Amin

Ba has a total of 648 registered businesses and is well-known for being the home of some of the largest companies in Fiji.
Special Administrator Chair for Ba and Lautoka Town Council, Anil Amin said the types of business in Ba included Electrical Contractors, Supermarkets, Restaurants, Refreshment Bars, Bakery, Industries, Manufactures and many other small scale businesses.
“The Ba Town Council value the business in Ba and provide services to ensure that these business operate smoothly and are able to focus most on what they do best,” he said.
Mr Amin said Ba had some big manufacturing industries like Roofing & Profiles Ltd, Manubhai Industries Ltd, Ba Industries Ltd, etc and this was a contributor for employment and economic growth.
“They are all big suppliers within the country and also for exports,” he added.
Mr Amin also said there were 408 permanent and around 96 casual market vendors in Ba.
Development projects
Ba Town Council is working on some huge developmental projects.
Some of the projects are; commercial building in a flood free area, upgrading of Children’s Park including Patel Park, upgrading the horse racing ground for a multipurpose use, developing the area outside Govind Park for Multipurpose Courts and so on.
“Works at Govind Park has resumed and if all goes as planned, then we should have it ready by April next year,” Mr Amin said.
He said upgrading Govind Park would be an attractive feature for the ground for rugby.
“Though this will take some time, but we are adamant that we can complete these projects,” he said.
He also said the Town Council welcomed and invited all their stake holders and businessmen in Ba to come forward to join hand in any listed projects mentioned.
“They are most welcome to bring in ideas of projects they would want to assist so that collectively the developments and upgrading could be done. Finance is a major factor and together we can achieve our goals,” he added.
Ba community
Keeping the people of Ba happy and working with them is one of the priorities of Ba Town Council.
“This has been an area of concern for a lot of people and we have collectively made the changes for an open door policy,” Mr Amin said.
“As council is a service provider, all complains needs to be addressed and response given to the complainant. We are open to everyone for their views and together issues need to be sorted out.
“The Council may be lacking in some areas but I give assurance that in a matter of time, everything will be in accordance to what the council needs to deliver.
“As the Chairman of Administrators for Ba and Lautoka, I would like to mention that our team is ready to assist all projects that people wish to embark on and are free to come and discuss with our council team and seek assistance and move forward as there are guidelines to be followed.”
