The Flying Fijians will continue on their campaign towards next year’s Rugby World Cup despite the departure of forwards coach Jason Ryan to join the All Blacks coaching staff.

Ryan recently took up his appointment as All Blacks forwards coach.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Flying Fijians head coach Vern Cotter said it was an opportunity that Ryan cannot refuse.

“This gives us a few options moving forward,” Cotter said.

“Should not disrupt too much as I’m not too far away from the forwards and what they have been doing with Jase (Ryan).”

Cotter said they would look for continuity on the driving theme to get better at set piece.

“This is where we can control games better. There will be a coach but the players are part of this theme moving forward.”

Meanwhile, Swire Shipping Fijian Drua hooker Zuriel Togiatama and Viliame Rarasea were named in the Counties Manukau Steelers for the upcoming New Zealand National Provincial Championship.

Already named in the Tasman Mako squad is backrow Te Ahiwaru Cirikidaveta.
