A new logo- is a commitment to new levels of service quality, world class hospitality, efficiency and importantly, being an ambassador for Fiji’s prestigious tourism industry.

Tourism Fiji chairman and Fiji Airways managing director and Chief Executive Officer Andre Viljoen made those remarks at the launch of the new logo for the Fiji Hideaway Resort at the Landers Bay Resort & Spa, Vuda on Friday night.

He said a new logo isn’t just a pretty design placed on the walls and on company letterhead.

“It’s an aspirational vision statement. It’s a commitment to new levels of service quality, world class hospitality, efficiency and importantly, being an ambassador of the prestigious tourism industry,” said Mr Viljoen.

He said that Tour Managers Group has set itself up to be a major player in our tourism industry for the decades to come – acknowledged the Tour Managers Group team for yet another milestone achievement, Tour Managers Group managing director Damen Gounder said discussions and negotiations for the Landers Bay and Hideaway commenced in mid-2019.

“In 2020, we agreed to proceed. However COVID-19 had its own plans. So we had to defer the agreement but continue to work together with the FTUC credit union board during the lockdowns to keep the result in good health.”

It also gave us an opportunity to understand the properties better. The two year break in business has been costly to many; the Group was not spared as well.

“The challenges since 2005 have been many. We went through disruptive cyclones, massive flooding, political upheavals, but 2020 and 2021 was probably the worst or the biggest challenge Have you had to go through,” he said.

Effect of Covid

Reopening businesses after the COVID-19 has not been easy because they run a fleet of transport and resorts. He added that some of their properties had issues with water pipelines, rubbers around the windscreen and air-conditioning units needed about $2 million worth of upgrading and renovation. ”

If we had the same level of business in 2019 and my calculation is that we would have lost close to $40 million in revenue,” he said.

Villa Del Cowrie

Mr Gounder added that they would continue to upgrade their property and brands.

“We will have contractors moving in early next month at our Villa Del Cowrie property. This property will be transformed into one of the finest wedding locations with a modern chapel with accommodation and restaurant on the seven-acre beachfront property,” he said.

He added that one of their resorts was booked out until October and maybe in another week, there won’t be any rooms there for Christmas.
