From Spain, Breen Here To Shine

Spain based- national rep Saiorse Breen is looking forward to do well in this year’s Punjas sponsored- Pacific Nations Cup 2022 at the Regional Tennis Centre in Nadovu, Lautoka.
The competition starts today.
Breen is in the six-member team to represent the country. Others in the squad includes Grace Debalevu, Ruby Coffin while the men’s team has Storm Cornish, Sumit Lal and Krishan Raju.
Breen turned 18 on June 22 and is the number one seed in the ladies category.
She expects tough competition from Samoa and Solomon Islanders star player Zorika Morgan in the singles event.
Breen will partner with Ruby Coffin for the ladies doubles event.
“This will be my third appearance in the PNC and I am looking forward to it,” Breen said.
“We expect tough competition from Samoa and Solomon Islands. We are good rivals too, which brings out the best in us.”
Staying on course
“Being here after the Pacific Mini Games did keep me on course in terms of training and participation in the sport.”
Breen has been training at the Gomez Academy in Barcelona, Spain the last 10 months.
She returned in June to feature for Team Fiji at the Pacific Mini Games 2022 in Saipan, Northern Marianas where she scooped three silver medals in team, women’s doubles and mixed doubles respectively.
Breen joined the sport when she was six-year- old, following her older brother Raeveen Breen.
Her involvement in the sport led to his dad, Richard Breen coming in later to be Breen is scheduled to return to Spain at the end of this month.
