Sabeto-Lomolomo Farmers’ Cooperative Awarded

Minister Faiyaz Koya educated the board on pathways to consider generating more income, jobs, and better lives in our community.

The Sabeto-Lomolomo Combine Cane Farmers Limited (SLCCFC) was awarded the Commendation Award.

The award was given during the World Cooperatives Day celebration in Sabeto on Tuesday.

SLCCFC took part in a competition organised by the Department of Cooperative Business under the Ministry of Commerce, Tourism, Trade, and Transport as part of the celebration.

The cooperative highlights its key success stories aligned to the World Coops Day theme.

 

“SLCCFC has come a long way and a successful journey since 2019,” said executive board secretary Anukesh Singh.

“The Cooperative paid off its debts and paid dividends to its 26 members during the pandemic helping the members and community at large.”

He added with notable achievements by the leadership team for SLCCFC, they have received a Commendation award for achieving great results.

 

Below are the impact areas that SLCCFC has worked for:

  • Able to generate good jobs for locals
  • Able to keep financial capital within local communities
  •  Build ethical value chains
  •  Able to improve people’s material conditions and security Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism, and Transport, Faiyaz Koya handed the award.

 

He had an eye-opening discussion with the SLCCFC board on diversifying into different production.

The Minister also educated the board on pathways to consider generating more income, jobs, and better lives in our community.

Mr Singh thanked the team from the Ministry and thanked the Department of Cooperative for conducting an educational competition.

“We are honoured by the team’s visit to our community and selecting our cooperative as one of the commended cooperatives in Fiji,” he said
