Vintage By Cherish A Success: Designer

After 10 years in the industry, local fashion designer Cherish Prasad, successfully put out his first stand-alone show, Vintage by Cherish, in Suva on Saturday night.
With three collections, more than 20 models, showcased the great work put together by Mr Prasad at the Williamson House.
“This wouldn’t have been possible without the strength from God,” he said.
The first collection was called Vintage, which means, “create your own reality”.
The second collection was called ‘O au (me)’.
“The print shows my Indian and Fijian side.”
The third collection was inspired by his hometown, Savusavu.”
“My designs are inspired by the rich diversity of my hometown in Savusavu. The unity and love we have for each other, like you can see tonight, most of the supporters here are from Savusavu, so that’s why I happen to design for them.”
Mr Prasad included a mixture of sizes of models, a mother and child walking down the runway and also a pregnant model.
He said all women should take pride in how they look despite the curves and sizes, even when pregnant.
Mr Prasad thanked all his sponsors, friends, loved ones especially his parents who had been supporting his fashion journey since he joined the industry at 15-year-old.
His advice to young budding designers is to ‘Dream, Believe and Achieve’.
“You can’t just dream and sit there, you have to work it out to be the person you want to become.”
