The Health Ministry is carrying out an investigation to determine why a patient received his nebulizer medication outside of the emergency room at the Colonial War Memorial (CWM) Hospital.

Grandmother Taina Hawea questioned why the treatment was conducted outside of the hospital.

Ms. Hawea said she took her grandson to the CWM Hospital because of an asthma attack and she was shocked to see what transpired.

On social media, she complained that patients could smell fumes from the car, and the area was dusty.

“I brought my grandson for neb here at the CWM Hospital. Really felt sorry for him as they put him outside of the emergency. Where I am standing, I can inhale fumes from cars,” she said.

Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Taina Hawea said someone was looking into it.
