World’s Top Surfer Confirmed For Cloudbreak

World number one ranked windsurfer Antione Martin will participate in the inaugural Fiji Pro Invitational at the Cloudbreak reef, near the island of Tavarua, Nadroga, from August 20-30.
Martin who hails from Guadeloupe, in the Caribbean will join other international windsurfers like Morgan Noireaux (Hawai’i), Bernd Roediger, Camille Juban (Guadeloupe), Robby Swift (United Kingdom), Bjorn Dunkerbeck (Spain), Russ Faurot (Hawai’i) Charles Vandemeulebrouke, and Jason Polaków (Australia).
Top Pro Women taking part includes world ranked 15, Jessica Crisp (Australia), Angela Cochran (Hawai’i), Katie McAnena (Ireland), Jane Seman (Australia) and Kate Barker (Australia).
The event is organised by Nadi based- Fiji Surf Co. and supported by Fiji Local Partners includes local villages, Tourism Fiji, Fiji Surf Co, IWT, Bati Protector, Bayview Cove Resort, Fiji, Vodafone Fiji and Fiji Skyward Industries.
Fiji Surf Co managing director Ian Muller said, “We’re super excited to hear that the inaugural International Windsurf Wave Riding event is being organised by Fiji Surf Co, which is taking place right here in Fiji.”
He added that Fiji has some of the hottest spots to surf in the world and so glad more visitors can experience these awesome surf spots now that we’re open for happiness.
“Fiji Surf Co making history again hosting the best wave riding windsurfers in the world on one of the best waves in the world Thundercloud a.k.a Cloudbreak,” said Muller.
“We helped create Fiji’s only surf law in the world and now that law is helping us secure the first locally run event by Fijians for the world to enjoy.
“Vinaka to all those who made this possible Tourism Ministry, IWT and Tabanivono trust,” he said.
Riding Cloudbreak at 8-10 feet is special and that’s the goal: Big waves and perfect Tradewinds.
It’s one of the most amazing experiences out there for the hard core riders and fans around the world.
The Bula Pass plan is to have four days of competition across the 10-day event window.
On the best wind days, heats will run from 12 noon to 5.30pm, leaving the mornings 100 per cent clear for surfing in light wind surfing perfection before the trades come in.
