The Jobe Naruma captained- Sigatoka Andhra Sangam College (SASC) Under-15 side has qualified for the Western Secondary Schools rugby quarterfinal next week.

Naruma’s side had lost 5-8 to Sigatoka Valley High in the opening round two weeks ago; last week they bounced back to defeat Sigatoka Methodist 13-5 in the Nadroga Navosa Secondary School Zone competition.

Head coach Timoci Nawaqa yesterday confirmed that the side would be playing Sigatoka Valley in a replay in tomorrow’s play-off.

“We have a good chance to test ourselves before the quarter-finals,” Naruma said.

The side had the services of Australia-born Vereti O’neil who plays at wing and Napolioni Nalaga Junior who is at second five eight.

“We have a very good mix of players, and the match should be in our favour.”

Meanwhile, the Semi Radravu coached- U17 side is keeping their fingers crossed to be in the play-off also.

The side had defeated Kavanagasau College 10-3 but lost to Sigatoka Valley 12-3 in their second match.

The team is led by Tevita Leawere and Kelemete Leawere, who both play locks.

Both are the sons of former Flying Fijians Kele Leawere.

Nawaqa said, “A lot of boys who were in rugby league had to switch to union.

“Our target is to work with the development undertaken by Leawere to make sure we feature a Under 18 side next year. “We thank FRU development officer Kele Leawere for assisting the team in terms of preparations.”

Last week results: U18 Ba Provincial Freebird 25-17 Cuvu College, Raluve: Navosa Central College 26-15 Cuvu College, Sigatoka Methodist College 12-10 Swami Vivekananda College (SVC), U15: SASC 13-5 SMC.
