Sub junior high jump gold medallist, Keleto Loboilagi, is aiming to repeat that in next year’s Coca-Cola Games.

The Nasikawa Vision College student jumped a distance of 1.65m to claim goal at the 2022 Coca-Cola Games at the HFC stadium in Suva, on Friday.
Originally from Biausevu in Nadroga, Loboilagi has set his sights of joining either Ratu Kadavulevu School or Queen Victoria School

“This is my first year to participate in the Coke Games and it’s been tough having to go through the intense competition and atmosphere,” he said.

“I want to impress teachers from RKS or QVS so I can attend the school next year, I really want to represent either schools in the next Coke Games.

“Most of my uncles either went to RKS or QVS along with some friends so I want to either school because it will help me in my high jump and rugby.
“There’s a lot of reasons to join these schools but it’s the exposure and rugby for me so it will help my future.
“I hope my gold medal win here will get the scouts from the either school contacting me to join them next year.”

He added the winning experience is worth a good celebration when he returns to the village.

“I want to rerun home and celebrate with my family, friends and my school mates because it’s been a while then we win a gold,” he said.

“The atmosphere of the Coke Games is unreal and to see the big schools here is challenging but it was good to beat them. I had two weeks to prepare but most of my training was done during the lockdown period, farming and doing chores in the village was part of my training. “I kept pushing myself to prepare well for the competition because this is the national championship.”
