Lalabalavu’s Medals Put Cuvu At Number 8

Training at the sand dunes every day paid off for Cuvu, Nadroga native Aporosa Lalabalavu.
Lalabalavu who is in Year Nine student at Cuvu College was awarded the best athlete trophy in the sub junior boys division at the 2022 Coca-Cola Games at the HFC Bank Stadium, Suva on Saturday.
He won gold medals in the 200 and 400 metres clocking a time of 24.20 and 54.40 seconds respectively.
Apart from the championship trophy, he collected $200 prize money from Digicel Fiji and and another $200 from Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Fiji.
“I trained at the Sigatoka sand dunes and I knew that I would return home with a gold medal,” the confident Lalabalavu said.
“All my hard work has been paid off.
“I would like to thank my school, coaches and my parents for helping me achieve this at the Coke Games.
“And also to my cousins and relatives who supported and were cheering for me from Australia; thank you.”
Cuvu College finished eighth in the boys division with two gold medals.
