More than 27,000 Marijuana Plants Discovered In Cakaudrove

A man in his 20s from Malolo, Nadi was arrested after he was found with illicit substances believed to be methamphetamine while two farmers from Navosa were arrested after they were found with dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Earlier last week, drug operations resulted in the seizure of more marijuana across the Divisions. Chief Operations Officer, ACP Abdul Khan, said this was after more information was received on the cultivation and trade of the illicit drug.

In the Northern Division, five farms were found in the highlands of Koroivonu Village, Cakaudrove, where more than 27,000 marijuana plants were discovered.

In Nadi, a raid conducted by officers from the Fiji Detector Dog Unit, the Nadi Operations and Narcotics Team at a hotel where dried leaves wrapped in clear plastic, all believed to be marijuana, was found in a room occupied by a man in his 20s from Savusavu.

In Nukuloa Village, three men were arrested after they were found with dried leaves and seedlings believed to be marijuana.

In Kadavu, more than 4,000 plants believed to be marijuana were up rooted from an unknown farm in the Lawaki terrain.
