Methodist Church Mourns Death Of Former President

The Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma is mourning the death of its former president Reverend Dr Ilaitia Sevati Tuwere. Reverend Tuwere passed away at the Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand on Tuesday, August 23.
He was 82. Methodist Church in Fiji president Reverend, Ili Vunisuwai, described the late Rev Tuwere as a man who was faithful to the calling of God in his life.
Rev Vunisuwai said the former church president was a highly respected theologian and a delightful man.
“The Qase Levu Vakacegu dedicated his life to training and preparing our pastors for the mission field, he was a principal/ head of school at the Pacific Theological College prior to becoming the president of the Methodist Church in Fiji,” he said.
“He also served as the general-secretary of the church at one point.”
“He was well known for his friendly nature and leadership, and he will be missed,” he said.
Reverend Tuwere will be laid to rest on Wednesday, August 31 at the Purewa Cemetery in Auckland.
