Nayau Before I Kick The Bucket
Captain Cook Cruises marine biologist, Christopher Doughty (middle) says the famous golf course in Ba is a great backyard spot for some alone time. He is flanked by a fellow marine biologist, Marica Kafoa, and boatman Seru Nakalevu.

Sitting Captain Cook Cruises is walking the talk through its marine ecology programme, in which it aims to revive and restore reefs.

Christopher Doughty, one of four marine biologists employed by the company, credits his ‘boss’, chief operations officer, Alifereti Koroilavesau, for the continued success in building on marine ecology in waters chartered by the cruise company.

“He came up with the programme,” the young Mr Doughty says of Mr Koroilavesau.

“When guests go diving, they want colour and a variety of life forms. We are trying to maintain that here at Tivua Island with Captain Cook Cruises.”

The underwater life in Tivua – a destination that Captain Cook Cruises services – is likened to a 3D movie.

Mr Doughty is part of the balanced team of four marine biologists employed by Captain Cook Cruises, in which there are two women.

What Is Your Favourite Spot For A Coffee Or Pie?

The Coffee Hub, Ba.

They have the best service and always fresh smelling pies and cakes. I’m proud to say that Ba is my hometown.

What Is Your Favourite Backyard Spot?

Ba’s famous golf course serves as the great go-to for some alone time.

It offers a lot of shade against a backdrop of chirping birds, and child’s play. It is my all-time favourite place.

What Is One Place In Fiji On Your Bucket List?

Lau remains the one place I want to visit before I kick the bucket. I have links to Lau from mom’s side and I’m thinking of marrying there soon.

Naturally, going there sooner would top my list.
