Suva Hopeful Of Winning In Lautoka

After playing for the Ram Cleaning Services/ Destiny Bar and Bistro Suva the past six years, defender Filipe Baravilala hopes to win his first Punjas Battle of the Giants tournament this year.
The Babs Khan coached Suva side is in Group A; they are pooled with All in One Builders Nadi, Cambridge Farms Limited/ Nabitu Farmers Nadroga and Farmtrac Labasa.
Group B has defending champions Rewa, Naidu Holdings Limited NZ Lautoka, Bargain Box Ba and Aldex Trading Navua.
The Capital City side takes on Labasa at 12pm today in the tournament opener at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
Baravilala indicated that preparations have been on track despite not training with the side the past three weeks.
He was in camp with the national Futsal five-a-side squad.
“All in all, I know that the boys are well-prepared,” he said.
“Looking at their fitness; I know we are prepared for the BOG.
“During the league all teams prepare d well against Suva because they know we have a bunch of players that can do wonders.
“For the past few years we had a good team but unfortunately we always lose in the final.
“ This year is totally different; looking at our side– young and experienced, we will have a good outing. “
Suva lost 1-0 in last year’s BOG final against Rewa.
“We played in the final against Rewa in the last BOG We respect them but at the end of the day whoever needs that win the most will definitely win on game day.
“In our minds at the moment, we’re there only to win.”
Suva last won the BOG is 1995.
The semi-final will be held the following weekend at the same venue.
