Krishan Is First In Family To Become Lawyer

Admission to the bar to become a qualified lawyer is the first for the Kumar family as their very own, Krishan Kartikya Kumar, broke all barriers, to achieve this wonderful feat.
Originally from Labasa, his early roots and family hardships attributed to his persistence to complete his studies and join the profession.
Mr Kumar admitted to the bar on Friday after completing his Bachelors of Law in Professional Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of the South Pacific.
The 24-year-old lived up to the expectations of his father and late grandmother, both of whom had dreams to see their Krishan Kumar wear the majestic black lawyer gown.
Mr Kumar completed his primary and secondary education at the Tabucola Valibar Sangam Primary and Labasa Sangam (SKM) College and acquired his secondary education from Labasa Sangam (SKM) College (Year 9 & 10) and Waiqele College from Years 11-13.
He is the only child in the family and believed being given their full attention kept him motivated to try and ensure their family name was uplifted.
The soft-spoken gentleman planned to practice his trade in Suva first in order to gain some much-needed hard-hitting court experience and familiarity with lawyering tactics.
“I had to endure a great deal of sleepless nights to study and memorise the various laws and techniques to enable me to be competent in this highly demanding field,” he said.
“I thank my parents for supporting me cognitively and financially in moulding me to become the person I am today, also my PDLP friends for their advise and attention”.
The hardworking lad encouraged students and reminded them that joining the profession was not a walkover and it demanded constant attention to studies.
