Girl, 18, Expected To Face The Consequence Of Alleged Claim

An 18-year-old student is expected to be charged and produced in court for alleged abuse of the Fiji Police Force’s emergency contact, 917.
It is alleged that on August 26, the student from Wailevu, Labasa, called 917 requesting for Police’s assistance claiming that she was being kidnapped by a group of men.
Police officers from Labasa Police Station were deployed in several Police vehicles to locate the student after the phone call was received.
Police were able to locate the young girl within a few hours who was found safely inside the house with her grandparent playing with a mobile phone. Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the incident.
“The student has been questioned by Police and the interview is suspended,” Mrs Naisoro said.
“She is currently admitted at the Labasa Hospital’s stress management ward.”
She said police would continue the questioning of the alleged perpetrator when she is discharged from hospital.
