This is where we wanted to be, says Fiji Airways Fijian 7s head coach Ben Gollings.

“The mission now is to build and lift our performance.”

The Fijians stand a good chance of winning the HSBC World Sevens Series after the Blitzboks failed to make the Cup quarterfinals.

Fiji is now in a three-way race with Australia and Argentina.

Gollings told SUNsports yesterday that making the top eight is all about consistency.

“We aim to continue to build our intensity and the pace of the game moving forward,” he said.

“Defensively we have to be strong because all these teams have threats across the pitch.

“If we can get that right, our attacking ability will look after itself.”

For today’s quarter-final against the US Eagles (5.35am), Gollings said they must re- group, re-energise and push for the final.
