Fijiana Sets Target For World Cup

Nothing is impossible at the Rugby World Cup 7s says Fijiana 7s head coach Saiasi Fuli.
The 13-member squad was presented their jerseys by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama at Pacific Theological College on Wednesday night.
They leave for Cape Town today.
“The target is to win; nothing is impossible,” Fuli said.
“This is a very solid squad even though we have lost some after the last Olympic Games.”
“We’ve learnt a lot from the Commonwealth Games.”
“We need to start well, manage the game and finish strong.“
“That is what we are going to focus on.”
Fuli said he was taking the best 13.
“We have been preparing well for this World Cup 7s.”
Format
The World Cup has a different format from the World Rugby 7s series and the Olympics.
“A very tricky format; it’s a knockout, unlike the normal 7s series or Olympics where you have pools and progress even if you lose you can be runners up.
“But this format, you lose you are out, you win you progress.
“Every game is Cup final.”
He added that maintaining possession and winning restarts will be crucial for every game.
“For our preparation; we saw how well they played, their competitive nature; we need good strong forwards that can retain possessions in the restarts.”
“We won 73 per cent of our restart sat the Commonwealth Games, that is crucial and we want to dominate the restarts – especially on knockout have possession win the game.”
