Man Accused Of Killing Wife Back In Remand

Vinay Darsan, who is alleged to have murdered his wife, was further remanded yesterday by the Magistrates Court in Rakiraki. He is charged with one count of murder and two counts of incitement.
For the charge of murder, it is alleged that Darsan murdered Aleshmin Pratap in Rakiraki on August 23.
For the first charge of incitement, he allegedly urged Sakaraia Vunisuwai to commit an offence of robbery on August 19 in Rakiraki.
For the second charge of incitement, Darsan allegedly urged Viliame Nayacalevu to commit an offence of murder on August 21 in Rakiraki.
The matter was heard before Resident Magistrate Lisiate Fotofili.
Darsan was represented by Parmendra Sharma while the prosecution was represented by Sergeant Kinisalote Lagivuki.
Mr Sharma had filed a formal bail application in court, however Sergeant Lagivuki told the court that the prosecution was objecting to the bail.
Magistrate Fotofili said the accused had no other previous matters, however his charge was an indictable offence, therefore he would transfer the matter to the High Court in Lautoka to be called.
The matter has been adjourned to September 15 for mention at the High Court.
