‘For My Kids’

Father’s Day celebration for Tevita Tuisavusavu this year will probably be the best he will have with his family.
That’s because Mr Tuisavusavu will receive the latest $180 per child cash support from Government for his six children. That also means, he will receive $1080 in cash. His six children are all under the age of 18.
The cash assistance is part of the Government’s inflation mitigation payout that was announced in the in the 2022-2023 National Budget in July. The first cash payments were made on Thursday.
“I never applied for the $360, $50 and $90 assistance but when I heard that the assistance was for the children, I applied,” Mr Tuisavusavu said.
Money that he earns as a casual labourer, which he usually puts aside for his children, will now be used to celebrate Father’s Day.
The family lives at the Muanivatu Settlement in Vatuwaqa.
“I am a casual worker, so I don’t always work. I only work when there is a need. I am so happy with the Government’s latest cash assistance initiative. This is the first Government assistance I am applying for,” Mr Tuisavusavu said.
“I will use this money to buy my children’s stationery, bags and shoes for next year. Whatever is balance, I will be use it to buy their food and clothes.
“I acknowledge the Government that has really helped people. People might say this and that, but it is this Government that has really helped us.”
