‘My Father Is My Hero’

Father’s Day this year will be extra special as Rose Sharma and her siblings plan to celebrate the occasion together with her mother’s birthday.
After two years of COVID lockdown, the family was unable to get together to celebrate Father’s Day.
This year, the principal of Rishikul Sanatan College in Nasinu and her five siblings plan to travel down to Nadi to celebrate.
“My dad (Samson Mani) is and will always be my hero. I share a very close relationship with my dad and I daily message or talk to him. I have seen him work very hard to ensure that I succeed,” Ms Sharma said.
“There is so much to say about my hero, my dad, and I guess there just aren’t enough words to describe my humble and loving dad.
“Despite many challenges, he remains strong for our family and never showed his pain. In my hard times, he was there to help. He helped bring up my children when I had work commitments. My children are extremely close to him.”

For Ms Sharma, it was important to have her father around, who would teach her all that she needed to know about life.
She said her father always supported her dream of becoming a teacher.
“He was a working father but he always had time. And often I would see him helping mum cook, and assist with other household chores,” she said.
“His advice to me was never to look back. Keep doing good for others and God will reward you when it is your time.
“I have kept this as my mantra. Until now, I seek his advice. It’s his advice and encouragement that has enabled me to surmount obstacles and be where I am today.”
Ms Sharma wishes all fathers a blessed Father’s Day with their families and personally thanked all those dads for everything that they do for their families.
“To my dad, I love you and will miss not being able to be by your side for your special day,” she said.
