Women leaders and office bearers from the nine villages in Nasavusavu district participated in the first-ever Organisational Strengthening and Leadership training funded by the Australian Volunteers Impact Fund on August 31, 2022.

A first-ever organisational strengthening and leadership training was held for women leaders from the nine villages in Nasavusavu district, Cakaudrove aimed to enhance women’s organisational and leadership management skills.

The Organisational Strengthening Project training on August 31 involved a leadership empowerment training for all women group leaders and office bearers of the nine villages of Nasavusavu district.

Ten similar trainings are planned for women in the 134 villages in the 15 districts of the province to better equip them.

President, Adi Salaseini Kavu Fong, said the training was aimed at fostering women with good leadership skills to be capable of organising and managing their group activities properly.

The project was funded by the Australian Volunteers Impact Fund.

Ms Fong acknowledged the support and believed the organisation was a blessing to the course of empowerment.

“Good leadership qualities will lead to a vibrant, active woman in rural villages in the province thus igniting socio-economic development,” she said.

Yaroi Village women’s group treasurer, Merelita, was thankful for the leadership session.

She said the skills learnt at the training will be used to develop young leaders and increase women’s representation in community or village decisions.

Another women leader, Maraia, shared similar sentiments and said she would incorporate some of these skills and qualities of transparency in their church and village committees.

These women group leaders (President, Secretary and Treasures) are part of the Soqosoqo Vakamarama Itaukei Cakaudrove provincial council group.
