Bua Central College is the winner of Northern Secondary Schools One Rugby Under-19 zone one playoffs.

BCC beat All Saints Secondary School 23-19 in the final, last Saturday.

Bua Central College Team trainer Meli Kuruvoli said they were grateful to the Lord Jesus Christ for answering their prayers.

He also thanked his players for keeping up with their discipline.

“The players were told that if they listen to their teachers they could achieve good academic results. It is the same thing in sports where they can excel if only they listen to the coaches.” Kuruvoli said.

“The players took each game at a time and I’m proud of their achievement.”

Bua Central College principal Raman Lal said it was a proud moment for the school.

“I thank the teachers, players and their parents for their support,” Lal said.

“Now we are going to prepare to meet the Eastern Zone winner in the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union’s Vodafone Deans after two weeks at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

“We have had players like speedster Rupeni Caucaunibuca, Seru Rabeni and William Ryder who are all from Bua.

“These players know that they have to lift their game and try to put on some good performance like their idols.”

Lal said they are come to Viti Levu with the aim to win.

“Heading to the business end of the competition, the stakes is high as schools from around the country will try to book their spot.

“All the big schools will try and dominate but we know we can give them a good run for their money.

Meanwhile all the teams in the competition are preparing well for the quarter-final round.
