Constitution Day In The Capital

Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, joined various youth groups and staff of the Suva City Council at the Suva City Council Awareness clean-up programme at the Nasese Suva foreshore yesterday.
Prime Minister Bainimarama thanked those present for coming out in numbers.
“Many of us know today (yesterday) is a family day or a rest day, but your presence here today is a testament to your commitment to the environment,” Prime Minister Bainimarama said.
SCC chief executive officer, Azam Khan, acknowledged the head of government for his support and participation in keeping the area clean and green.
In commemoration of Constitution Day, the event included cleaning up of the beach, shoreline and foreshore in allocated spots along Queen Elizabeth and Suva Point picnic park.

The children were taught what is on the Fiji flag, how to draw the Fiji flag and took part in other competitions which were hosted by the Suva City Council (SCC).
SCC also held a constitution fun day at Albert Park. Constitution day marks the promulgation of the Fijian Constitution on this day (September 7) in 2013.
School teacher, Sis Rebecca Vuatalevu said she was happy to see her children enjoy themselves.
“I live with my family in Korovou and last Saturday I brought my children to the library and we saw the poster about the constitution day celebrations. My children were excited when I told them that I would bring them,” Ms Vuatalevu said.
“I am glad that I brought them because they learned of the importance of constitution day and the rights they are entitled to.”
“I hope that next year there will be a celebration at Korovou town because we don’t get to enjoy such events there. It is a day to enjoy and also learning.”
Ana Adi Tui of Davuilevu was on her way to the pool accompanying her grandson when they were curious about what was happening outside the library.
“I am glad that I asked those that were standing around about what was happening because my grandchild is enjoying himself,” Ms Tui said.
