Sam: Chance For Reps To Improve

The Digicel national Futsal side has been drawn in Group B of the OFC Futsal Cup 2022 development tournament along with champions Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, and Samoa.
Fiji FA President’s Five is drawn with New Zealand, Tonga, and Vanuatu.
Host Fiji is fielding two teams in the competition.
The championship will be played from September 13-18 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
The group stages will be played in a single round-robin where each team plays one match against the other teams in the same group, with three points for a win, one point for a draw and zero for defeat.
The group winners and runners-up will contest in the semi-final each on Saturday, September 17, with the winners advancing to the Futsal Cup final on Sunday.
Fiji FA Futsal head coach Jerry Sam said it’s was an exciting opportunity as the host nation for the growth of the sport.
“In Fiji, there’s been a boost of popularity in futsal after the lockdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Sam told Fiji FA Media.
“We’ve entered two teams into this competition which presents a big opportunity for the next generation of players coming through to be amongst and against those with more experience.
“Everyone is looking forward to the tournament.”
