Levuka For Marriott Resort Pastry Chef

Krishneel Nair is a pastry chef who has been in the industry for more than seven years.
He works for Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay and also runs his home-based baking business in Cuvu, Sigatoka.
Mr Nair was one of the many workers in the tourism industry who felt the brunt of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
His love for baking started when he was only nine-year-old.
At one point of his life, he found a job at a well-known cake shop in Sigatoka, but because of his interest in baking skills, he agreed to work for free.
“We cannot get our dream job straight after finishing school or university, everything takes time.”
How many places have you been around Fiji?
I have visited all places in Viti Levu, Labasa and Savusavu. In terms of work at different places, I have worked for Shangri-la’s Fijian Resort in Sigatoka, Radisson Blu Resort in Denarau Nadi and Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
In my experience I have met people of different ethnic backgrounds and got to know more about their lifestyle in terms of food and culture.
Currently I work for Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, as a Pastry Chef.
What is your favourite place for coffee?
The Fiji Bakery located at the Marriott Resort, the coffee is too good especially if you have a piece of cake to go with it or a cookie. I also believe there is no better coffee than the ones at the Fiji Bakery in Sigatoka.
What one place that remains in your Bucket list and why?
Levuka since there are a lot of real life stories about the old capital there.
What do you do in your spare time?
I spend most of my time at the Marriott. It has the best scenery. .
