Large Stash Of Dried Leaves Found In Makoi

Arrests continue to be made by Divisional Task Forces through the support from members of the public.
A joint raid conducted by the Southern Division Task force, K9 and the Fiji Detector Dog Unit in Makoi on Saturday resulted in the discovery of a substantial amount of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
Chief Operations Officer (COO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul Khan said the substances were found inside and outside the suspect’s house, and when officers had initially approached the suspect, he threw bundles of dried leaves into a neighbours compound.
ACP Khan said a man in his 20s was arrested in Suva last night alleged to be involved in cases of car break-ins in Suva.
Further searches conducted in Nanuku Settlement led to the discovery of electronic gadgets and musical instruments.
ACP Khan says as efforts continue throughout the Divisions, it is also encouraging to note increasing support from the community in working with Police to reduce crime.
He said community policing efforts adopted various approaches that range from groups that are vanua, religion, sporting, family and youth based.
He adds community policing officers conducted visitations throughout the week and the turnout of youths as of lately has been encouraging.
