Women’s World Cup At Grammar

The Women’s Rugby World Cup was taken to Suva Grammar School yesterday. The Cup is in the country ahead of the World Cup to be staged in Auckland, New Zealand, on October 8 to November 12.

The Suva Grammar School Under-16 girl’s rugby side greeted the team that was bringing the Cup.

Speaking to SUNsports, SGS vice principal Asenaca Babitu said it was an honour to have the Cup visit the school.

 

“It will boost the morale of our female ruggers who were present to see the Cup,” Babitu said.

“Our girls’ have just started playing rugby this year and we are still new to the game. We hope the Grammar girls will do better in rugby.”

Rooster Chicken Fijiana XVs tighthead prop Joma Sera and Black Ferns (New Zealand) national rugby prop Tanya Kalounivale are former SGS students.

The Cup also visited The State House. It was then taken to the CMF Primary School at Khalsa Road in Nasinu, St Agnes Primary School in Nabua before spending the night at the Fiji Rugby Union headquarters.
