Labasa Football Hosts Private Function

The Labasa Football Association is celebrating their recent Battle of the Giants win in a private function at the Fiji Football Association (FFA) academy in Labasa today (Saturday) to thank its players for winning the title.
Association’s president Rayaz Khan said initially they had planned to have the players and officials march through the street of Labasa Town and allow members of the public to take photos with the trophy.
However, this activity was cancelled due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
He said while many parts of the world are in mourning, it was inappropriate to organise a public celebration.
“Our very own Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is attending the late Queen’s funeral and it would be appropriate that we all show respect,” Khan said.
“This is why we’re having a private function over the weekend for the players and their families; we want to thank the families for their continuous support.”
Meanwhile, the 23rd Courts sponsored Interdistrict Championship (IDC) pool draw was done today. (Saturday)
Labasa is in Pool B with Lautoka, Ba and Rewa.
