Teams travelling from Vanua Levu to the 67th Courts Inter-district championship have been allocated $3500 each. These teams are Labasa, Seaqaqa, Dreketi, Bua, Savusavu, Nadogo and Taveuni.

This was confirmed by Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf during the pool draws at the Courts Megastore in Samabula, last Saturday.

The IDC takes place at the HFC Bank Stadium,Suva, from October 5-10. Yusuf said fans would not be left behind as all teams from the three grades would be involved.

There are eight teams in the Super Premier Division and six each in the Premier and Senior. “About $60,000 to $70,000 will be given to the districts to prepare for the IDC,” Yusuf said.

“All Northern teams are getting $3500 each whereas Viti Levu teams allocation would depend on the distance – it will be paid in advance.”  Pool draws Defending champions Labasa has been drawn in the pool of death.

They are inGroup B with Digicel Premier League champions Rewa, Suva and Ba. The Babasiga Lions won the 2019 and 2020 IDC while last year, the tournament did not take place due to COVID-19.

Group A sees Suva, Nadroga, Navua and Nadi. “Group B is the pool of death. It’s going to keep everybody on the tip of their toes because anybody from that pool can qualify,” Yusuf said.

“The other pool too is equally good, they have also caused upsets, definitely Labasa as defending champions have a lot of work to be do but they are a tournament team.

Labasa fans always push their team across to the semifinals.” Meanwhile, Courts had been sponsoringthe tournament for the past 22 years.
