The members of The Then India Sanmarga Ikya (T.I.S.I) Sangam were urged to be united and steadfast at all times and to work for the good of all people in this country.

TISI Sangam Fiji interim chairman Parveen Bala stressed this during the Sangam organised prayer meeting, in remembrance of the late Justice Jai Ram Reddy, at the SSKM College in Nadi on Saturday.

Mr Bala added that the late Mr Reddy always provided national context to speeches, urging all members of Sangam to stay united not only within Sangam, but to contribute to the unity and progress of Fiji.

He recalled, during a special meeting on April 18, 1976, the late Mr Reddy was instrumental in reviving and strengthening the TISI Sangam.

“He made a very powerful plea for unity and for Sangam to move forward as an organization with a proud past and with the potential to continue to build on this past towards future greatness,” Mr Bala said.

His comments were recorded in the TISI AGM minutes, and I quote, ‘He made a plea, drawing everyone’s attention to Sangams past achievement, the sacrifices of its pioneers and the proud legacy our forefathers had left behind.’

He asked, ‘What have you done to this noble organisation’.

“That powerful address was to change TISI Sangam into a new era of a united and progressive organisation. His comments were always inclusive and spoke to all people of Fiji as one citizen.

“At this prayer meeting as we remember and honor the man and his legacy, let us also commit to his plea for Sangam to retain its dignity through a valued integrity and ethics in all its dealings.”

And for all to remain humble in all our contributions and participation in TISI Sangam.”

Mr Bala also said the TISI Sangam annual general meeting will be held once again in the coming months.
