The Magistrates Court in Nadi has given Kaliova Nalibu and assault complainant, Mohammed Faiyaz Ali, time until the next mention date to provide an update on their reconciliation efforts should they choose to do so.

Nalibu is charged with one count of assault causing actual bodily harm on Ali, who is a bus driver.

Nalibu is alleged to have assaulted Ali, 46, of Nawaka Reservoir Road, at the Nadi Bus Stand around 6.30am on Monday after boarding the bus from Sabeto.

The charges were read out to Nalibu in court and he indicated that he understood them.

Resident Magistrate Nirosha Kannangara said the offence was a reconcilable one because there was no relation between Nalibu and Mr Ali.

The court heard that Nalibu was granted bail on the conditions that he pays a bail bond of $500, not reoffend and provide an update to the court on the progress of reconciliation efforts with Mr Ali.

Nalibu told the court he had signed the case disclosures, however they were not given to him.

Magistrate Kannangara adjourned the matter to November 7 for mention.
