Fijifirst Receives 200 Applications For Ticket As Provisional Candidates

FijiFirst has received 200 applications from people showing interest to stand for the political party in the 2022 General Election.

FijiFirst general secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the party would complete its interview of applicants before an announcement of names.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said people who will be selected to be provisional candidates for the political party are those who uphold values and principles.

“We interviewed lots of people last week. We have done interviews in Nadi and from next week we will be having interviews in Lautoka, Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki,” he said.

“Last week, we spent two days in Vanua Levu to interview people who have shown interest to stand for the political party in the upcoming election.

“We should be finished very soon and we are actually happy with the caliber of people who have applied.

For us, values and principles matter.”

He did not reveal as to when the party had planned to announce its first batch of provisional candidates.
