The Suva Grammar School Under-18 rugby side is playing Natabua High School in next Saturday’s semifinal of the Vodafone Deans Trophy at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

This was after Suva Grammar beat Lelean Memorial School 21-8 in today’s quarterfinal at the HFC Stadium in Suva.

It was a strong start for Suva Grammar when fullback Sairusi Masi kicked over a penalty for an early 3-0 lead.

Then a few minutes later halfback Philip Baselala’s place kick was spilled forward by the Lelean backs, which was scooped up by 17-year-old winger Gabriel Simpson to score the first Grammar try. The conversion from Masi went wide as Grammar led 8-0.

Then Masi again extended Grammar’s lead after kicking over a penalty before Lelean replied with a penalty as they trailed 11-3 at halftime.

Grammar came out firing and No.8 Immanuel Temo peeled off from the base of the scrum to crash over for their second try with Masi adding the extras.

Then it became 21-3 after Masi landed his second penalty but continuous pressure from Lelean saw their fullback Waisele Baleinasucu dot down their only try, which was not converted.
