Bua Triumph In Premier Division Competiton

Bua created history after claiming the premier division title for the first time during the Vanua Levu Muslim Inter-District Championship (IDC) tournament.
They beat the defending champion Taveuni 2-0 at Subrail Park in Labasa on Sunday night.
The first goal was scored by Bua Football Association senior league striker Mohammed Zaid.
The second goal was scored by Naizal Hussein with assistance from Zaid.
Zaid, 26 a Police Constable with the Nabouwalu Police Station received three awards: the Golden Boot, Golden Ball and Best Player of Day Three.
He dedicated their first win to his family and Bua supporters who had been with the team when the 43rd tournament began.
“I am thankful to the officials for having faith in me,” Zaid of Wailevu, Labasa said.
“It wasn’t easy to beat Taveuni as they have been winning the last two years but through team effort we managed to claim the title this time.”
Team manager Mohammed Janif said they have been participating in the tournament ever since it started.
“We have reached the semi-finals but dropped out,” Janif said.
“We would like to thank our coach Ram Naresh, the former Bua district player for his guidance.”
Bua walked away with the $1000 prize money.
Meanwhile, Ali Fashion sponsored Taveuni team coach Sheik Ali said one of the major factors that led to their loss was the slippery ground conditions.
Ali added they aim to come stronger next year.
