It has been a learning experience for the Bucalevu Secondary School Under-16 girls rugby team from Taveuni after reaching the Raluve Trophy semi-final.

They lost 24-0 to Sigatoka Methodist College at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, today but teacher Akata Samuri told SUNsports, that they were not disappointed of the result.

“It is a great achievement reaching the semi-final in the first season,” Samuri said.

“We have learnt a lot and would like to invest and develop more players in the future.

“Most of these girls are 14 and 15-year olds, so this was a good exposure for them to build our team for next year.”

Samuri acknowledged the support of their school principal, old scholars, teachers and especially parents who have been following the team since the pool rounds.
