Motherly Support Inspires Sigatoka Methodist Girls

Sigatoka Methodist College thrashed Bucalevu Secondary School 24-0 in the first semi-final of the Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy Under-16 at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, today.
Training at the Sigatoka sand dunes was an advantage to SMC as they had been camping for the past three weeks.
Team manager, Repeka Qali, said they are grateful to God for brining them this far.
“God has been the source of our power and energy from the start,” she said.
“We knew Bucalevu’s defence was better than ours. We worked on that and our attack and defence improved so the sand dunes really helped us.
“The semi-final was a different game altogether. Without parental support especially the mothers who have been camping with the girls for the past three weeks, we would not be here.
“There has been tremendous support from the school administration, teachers and old scholars.”
Meanwhile, Naitasiri Secondary won 7-5 against Jasper Williams High School in the second semi-final.
SMC takes on Naitasiri Secondary School in next Saturday’s final at Lautoka’s Churchill Park.
