The Ra High School Under-19 rugby side created a major upset when they beat Ratu Kadavulevu School 20-18 in the Vodafone Super Deans Trophy U19 semi-final at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, today.

The Ra High School players and officials were emotional at the sound of the final whistle.
This is the first time the school is playing the competition as they have been playing rugby league for the past five years.
It was Sikeli Vakabulavanua’s conversion that earned them the two-point win after the two teams were tied 18-18 at the 68th minute.

It was all left to Vakabulavanua to kick over their winning points, which he calmly did.

Vakabulavanua said he was not intimidated by the vocal RKS fans as he was about to convert Rateri Rokobuli’s try.

“I can only thank God,” he said.

“There was nothing else on my mind at that moment but to kick it over as it would decide the outcome of the match.

“The RKS cheers started to get louder but I’m grateful for our supporters for encouraging me.

“This is history for us and it was a memorable win that we will always carry with us- defeating the Deans great RKS.”
Ra High School faces Ratu Navula College in the U19 final at Churchill Park, Lautoka, next Saturday.
Ratu Navula edged Lelean Memorial School 12-6 in the second semi-final.
