Nurse Graduates With Hope To Open Eye Clinic In Levuka

Shimal Prasad, a registered nurse for almost six years, was among graduates of Fiji National University at the ceremony last Friday.
Ms Prasad, graduated with the post-graduate diploma in eye care yesterday after securing a scholarship in 2021.
She grew up with the thought of making changes and paving the way for young girls.
“I first started my nursing career in 2017, then I was new to the medical field and had a lot to learn,” Ms Prasad said.
“Good company and supportive friends were something that carried me all these years.”
She is a registered nurse in Levuka, a remote environment that is often under serviced when it comes to special care.
Ms Prasad’s main ambition is to return to Levuka and set up her own eye clinic for the people of Levuka.
“Since I have been recognised, and received this qualification I will make use of this knowledge and help the people of Levuka,” she said.
“I would like to encourage other individuals, especially young girls and boys who are still in school to always have that ‘will’ power to set goals and achieve them.”
The postgraduate diploma in eye care equips students with the values, attitudes, expertise, and abilities necessary to deliver efficient and all-inclusive eye care services across the Pacific.
