Driver Fine After Lami Bridge Freak Accident

A man escaped death yesterday after the vehicle he was driving veered off the Lami Bridge.
It is understood that the driver was travelling alone from the West.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the driver did not sustain any serious injuries from the accident.
Investigations continue.
In light of this, the Fiji Road Authority is calling on road users that anyone found at fault for damaging road infrastructure would bear the cost of repairing.
Chief executive officer, Kamal Prasad, said: “We give them the cost and details.”
This is under the FRA Code of Practice for Utility Operators’ to Road Corridors.
However, he said there were instances where those at fault failed to pay repair works on time.
FRA had to step in on these occasions and bore the cost.
This was necessary so that so that safe and accessible roads were provided to road users, he added.
