Rasolea: Getting It Right

Rooster Chicken Fijiana XVs prop Siteri Rasolea never regretted her decision to play for her country at the Women’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
“It was the Wallaroos but then my heart was for Fiji and I chose to represent my country,” Rasolea said.
Rasolea said it was a proud moment for her to continue their family tradition of representing Fiji in rugby.
Her dad Solomone Rasolea played second five eight for Nadi and the Flying Fijians in the 1980s while her brother Junior Rasolea represented the Fijian Under-20 side.
Rasolea indicated that she was honoured to be in such an environment a few days away from playing their first World Cup match against England in Auckland, New Zealand.
“It’s about focusing on the basics and getting the little things right. It’s about doing it right especially against England.”
Rasolea said the Test match against Canada was very useful in their preparation as it gave them an idea of what to expect at the World Cup.
“It was good to have a few Test matches under the belt before the World Cup,” she added.
Meanwhile, forwards coach Greg Smith said the focus at the moment is to prepare sufficiently as they are playing against England, France and South Africa.
“This is to prepare the girls to face the challenges coming from these teams,” the former Flying Fijian hooker said.
“For the girls they are in a steep learning curve and the competitiveness at this level will be something new to them.”
Smith said the forwards it’s about being the best they can be on game day.
The Fijiana XV plays England in their Pool C opener on Saturday at Eden Park, Auckland. The match kicks off at 3.45pm.
