Tailevu native, Tomasi Volavola (L), is looking foward to his visit to Fiji next year, and the seafood dishes available locally.

In his most recent Facebook post, Tailevu-native Tomasi Volavola, wrote, “Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing at all.

It best describes his approach to life, all his life, daring.

When he returns to Fiji next year, nine years after his last visit, the one thing on his mind will be to eat fresh seafood.

The Tailevu native lives in the United Kingdom, where he took up residency in 2000, after he enlisted with His Majesty’s Forces.

“I always wanted to be a soldier,” the former scholar of St Thomas High School, said.

The son of former mayor of Suva City Council, and former vice president of the Methodist Church in Fiji, Ratu Peni Volavola, he returns with his nuclear family in the coming months to celebrate his son’s 21st birthday with family and close friends.

“Every holiday I have taken out of the United Kingdom in the past 22 years, has always been back home, to Fiji – nowhere else,” he said.

“What I miss most about Fiji is the family, and obviously the food.”

The Volavolas reside in Plymouth, Devon, South West of England.

Where in Fiji would you take friends?

Nabitu Village, Tailevu. It is home.

Tailevu native, Tomasi Volavola, is looking forward to his visit to Fiji next year, and the seafood dishes available locally.

I want friends to experience the Fijian hospitality, and food that is known only in my village, and province.

What is your favourite spot for a coffee or pie?

Nausori municipal market.

What better way to promote small businesses, to help them and the small tea shops sell goodies that they bake with love.

What is your favourite backyard spot?

Natadola Beach, Nadroga.

The beautiful white sand beaches, the peaceful ambience, the beautiful sunsets, define the spot.

What is one place in Fiji on your bucket list?

Savusavu

I need to see for myself the Hidden Paradise, with Savusavu’s position as the biggest bay in Fiji, and home to the popular hot spring, J Hunter Pearls, and is an overall exciting tourist destination.

Savusavu town, on the island of Vanua Levu in the province of Cakaudrove.
