Namaka Market Vendors Celebrate In Style For Fiji Day

The Bula spirit is evident in all municipal markets across the country for Fiji day celebrations.
Vendors at the Namaka market made quite a statement during this years as they went all out in painting the market blue.
Market vendor, Angie Prasad who always takes the lead by example at the Namaka Market was once again filled with enthusiasm as the Fiji Day fever brightened the faces of vendors and their stalls.
Ms Prasad who is a bubbling face of the market said, every year she makes sure that such a theme is portrayed at her stall.
“Traditionally and culturally, it is a norm for me and my brother and sisters at the market to celebrate this day with much pride and dignity,” she said.
Another vendor Kava Aisea said, “We are one and we should all embrace and uphold this day.”
Former Namaka Vendors Association president Alipate Bilavucu said it is a great day to share with all the Fijians.
“We have to celebrate this day as it is a sign of all Fijians working together for the greater good for our country,” he said.
Chair of special administration for Nadi and Sigatoka, Lawrence Kumar commended the different sections that make up the market at Namaka and Nadi as well.
He also recognised their service to the township and for keeping Fijians healthy with the produce they sell, a contributing factor towards the fight of non-communicable diseases.
Mr Kumar added that vendors continue to contribute immensely to the economy of the nation.
