Students With Disabilities Celebrate Importance Of Fiji Day

It is important for our students to understand and to know the importance of Fiji Day.
This was the message that Fiji Vocational Technical and Training Centre for Persons with disability (FVTTCPD) Principal, Kemueli Musunamasi had for students of the training centre as they marked Fiji’s Independence Day last week.
“Our students are special students and for this celebration it brings out that joy within them, and getting this celebration setup is just for them to enjoy,” he said.
He also said that a simple Fiji day celebration brought more joy and happiness to their special students.
“This is small celebration initiated by the school, but for them it will be a story to tell in years to come.
“This Fiji Day celebration is combined with World Children’s Day, World Teachers Day and Prophet Muhammad’s birthday; it may not be much for us, but for my students, it means a lot to them.”
He said when they announced of the celebration, many of the students were excited and were looking forward to it.
Taniela Rokosawa, who is a parent of one of the students, was also part of the celebration on Thursday.
He said they were humbled to part of the celebration to commemorate Fiji Day, but importantly he was there to support his daughter.
“Fiji has come a long way; the struggles and pains we’ve been through together as individuals and as a nation has lit up that beacon of hope to our children with special needs that they will always be included no matter what happens.”
One of the students, Praneel Sharma shared his Fiji Day for all readers of the Fiji Sun.
“Get together and don’t fight but make friends. That is my message for everyone,” he said.
