Second Chance For Plagiarists: RFMF

The Republic of the Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Commander, Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, is giving a second chance to applicants found to have plagiarised their applications for the regular officer’s selection board.
It comes as RFMF released a memo undersigned by the Commander saying they had found that a number of applications had plagiarised their applications.
Major-General Ro Jone said the military wanted applicants that have the passion to join the military and not those who copy and paste from the internet.
He added that this was unacceptable and would not be tolerated, the memo read.
However, when asked to further comment on the memo, the Commander said they would give a second chance for the applicants.
“They are trying to get a fast way in and we are trying to cut that out because it becomes a huge problem when they go into the academy,” Major-General Kalouniwai said.
“I don’t have the numbers with me but last time, there was a large number of applications doing that in the last cadet course. The software picked it.”
“We are encouraging officers to write their own letters, we are trying to give them a second chance so they can go back and write their letters, they don’t need to write something from the internet.”
Major-General Ro Jone said those found in breach of this had until this Friday to resubmit their honest and genuine applications.
