Suva Wins IDC After Eight Years

Suva football head coach Babs Khan has won Suva’s first Courts Inter district championship title in eight years at the HFC Bank Stadium yesterday.
They walloped Navua 4-0 at the HFC Bank Stadium yesterday. The last time Navua was in the final was in 2009 when they to Lautoka 2-0.
Suva walked away with $26,000 while Navua was awarded $6000.
With his magic wand yesterday’s win was Khan’s major title coaching the capital side since 2020.
Under his coaching term Suva has brough home the Fiji FACT, Digicel Premier League and now IDC in three years.
He is yet to win a Battle of the Giants title.
“This means a lot. It’s not one day you can prepare the team,” he said.
“It is not easy building a team, it takes lot of work.”
“I have a wonderful coaching staff and officials that believed and stood by me.”
Suva last won in 2014.
Meanwhile, the golden glove was awarded to Suva goalie Akuila Mateisuva while Azariah Soromon was awarded the golden boot and best player of the Courts sponsored tournament.
Suva’s win is Mateisuva’s fifth IDC title.
What Happened:
Azariah Soromon slotted a goal each in the first half and they led 2-0 at half time.
Remueru Takiate and Wasake Navunigasau added another two in the second half to nail their 4-0.
